I’m happy to announce the release of another new customer-requested feature tonight! At the bottom of your schedule page you’ll find a new link – “Download Schedule as Excel”. When you click it, you’ll get an Excel file that looks very much like your schedule and contains all the same information, including rooms, events, current assignments, and color-coding. Check it out and let us know what you think!
Download Schedule as Excel
March 3rd, 2011Download Volunteer List
March 1st, 2011By request from one of our customers, you can now download your volunteer information from Nursery Nanny. Go to your Volunteers page and click “Download volunteers CSV file” (you’ll find the link in the Tools section on the right side of the page). The resulting file can be opened in Excel or any text editor – perfect for viewing, printing, or importing into other software programs.
New Email Feature
February 26th, 2011Admins, you can now send an email to all your volunteers directly from Nursery Nanny. On the right-hand side of your Volunteers page, click the “Send an email to your volunteers” link. Type your email and click send! You can choose to send the email to all your volunteers, or just the active ones.
Disabling automatic “substitute finder” emails
February 9th, 2011When a volunteer declines or withdraws from an assignment, Nursery Nanny will by default find other eligible volunteers and email them, trying to find someone to fill the vacancy. Admins can disable this feature if desired. Click on the My Account tab, click Email Configuration, find the section labeled “Find substitutes via email”, and check the box labeled “Check here to disable this feature.” Click the Save button. Done!
New Feature: Alerts
September 16th, 2010We released a new feature today!
When a volunteer declines an assignment, two things happen. First, the volunteer is removed from the assignment on the schedule. Second, Nursery Nanny tries to find someone to fill the vacancy. It looks for volunteers with preferences that match the assignment, and then sends an email asking those volunteers if they can fill in. Filling in is as easy as clicking a link in the email.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t obvious to you, the nursery coordinator, that any of this was happening, and that was confusing. And that’s where our new alert system comes in. Now, if one of your volunteers declines his/her assignment, you’ll get an alert via email and on your web dashboard immediately. The alert will tell you who declined, and how many people were emailed in search of a replacement.
We intend to add more alerts in the coming weeks. If there’s something you want an alert for, drop us a note at support@nurserynanny.com and we’ll add it!
Update: Email Delivery
June 25th, 2010We recently discovered that many of the major internet email providers were improperly flagging Nursery Nanny email as spam and in some cases, refusing to deliver the messages at all. This was due to an improper flag being set for the address that publicly identifies Nursery Nanny on the internet. We’ve contacted these providers and gotten our server flag corrected.
For our users who had problems with Nursery Nanny emails being blocked or sent to spam, we’re happy to report that this problem is now resolved. We thank you for your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Volunteer Expectations
March 10th, 2010We have different levels of exceptions for our church volunteers, but I think it goes without saying that we tend to have higher trust queues for those who will be volunteering in our church nursery. Tony Kummer at Ministry-to-Children.com has an excellent article about the expectations he has set at his church for the church nursery volunteer workers.
Running a Church Nursery Is Hard.
March 8th, 2010We all know that running a church nursery is hard and it can be an especially daunting task for those of us who are just starting out and are new to the process. Erika L over at associatedcontent.com gives a great article about running a church nursery successfully and some tips and pointers that have worked for her during her own trials as a Nursery Director for her church. It is a really excellent article.
